What to Expect

DESTINATION ALLURE
Uganda is home to an abundance of wildlife, boasting the largest concentration of primates in the country (Kibale NP) and the biggest diversity of primates of any East African reserve. Home to the Big 4 (no Rhino) and a whopping species of birds, Uganda is a destination not to be missed.

TREKKING OUR GREAT APES
Chimp Habituation Experience – For 2-days we are offered a unique opportunity to follow, document and observe our closest living ancestors in their daily activities. Mountain Gorilla treks – We will partake on 3 Gorilla treks to afford us the best opportunities to find and photograph these incredible creatures. Upon finding the Gorillas, we will spend a maximum of 1 hour with our designated family.

TREE CLIMBING LIONS AND OTHER BEASTS
Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to an assortment of wildlife and bird species. We will stay in the Ishasha Sector which is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Other wildlife includes the Uganda Kob, Leopard, Elephant and more.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival In Entebbe And Transfer to Murchison falls national park

Today is an arrival day in the Uganda capital for the start of our African photo safari. Upon arrival at the airport, our driver will pick you up then depart for Murchison Falls National Park. The highlights of this park include; the roaring rapids of the Murchison, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park where you will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. Then surely you will be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and the Nile crocodiles here. For birders, Murchison Falls boasts 450 bird species including the elusive shoebill. Retire at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2Game Drive and Boat Cruise Murchinson Falls

After an early breakfast; tour the Northern section of Murchison with a high concentration of savannah wildlife. Enjoy game viewing and photography of elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, giraffes, Uganda kobs and lions, the leopards (if you are lucky) plus a variety of bird species.  

Return to your accommodation for lunch as you prepare to have a launch trip to the base of the falls. This trip is said to be the highlight of the safari in Murchison falls since it allows you to get up close to the animal species within the water. After lunch, you will embark on a three-hour launch trip to the base of the Murchison Falls. Cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles, bathing buffalo, and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfalls. You will have an opportunity to take thousands of pictures, so carry your camera with you if you like. Also, proceed to the top of the falls before descending for the return trip to your accommodation.

Day 3Transfer to Kibale National Park

Depart Murchison Falls after an early breakfast and head for Kibale National Park with lunch en-route. This drive can take you about 10 hours but it mostly depends on nature of the road but you need not worry there will be plenty of stop-overs to take in beautiful views and also interaction with the communities leaving along the roads. On arrival at Kibale Forest, we shall check into the accommodation for dinner and the night stay.

Day 4Chimpanzee trekking – Bigodi swamp

After early morning breakfast you go to this great Park which is said to have the greatest variety of primates in East Africa, for Chimpanzee trekking. Among the primates found in this forest are the black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, and red tailed monkeys. Then in the afternoon after lunch, go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp which has many interesting birds.

Day 5Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Visit to Katwe Salt Lake

After your morning breakfast drive through the great western Rift Valley’s Albertine escarpment to the southwest Uganda.  Arrive at the Tooro kingdom’s capital, Fort Portal located in the shadows of the magical “mountains of the moon”-Rwenzori.  We will also take a tour to Katwe Salt Lake, the biggest of the only two productive salt lakes in this park. Here, the salt is extracted locally by the local communities for them to earn a living in their families. You will also be able to know the productive gears these people need for their bodies while at work. In the evening, we will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park and, on your way, to Bush lodge for dinner and overnight, enjoy the stunning scenery and seeing the wonderful sights as you drive to your lodge.

Day 6 Game Drive and Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

The day begins with an early breakfast and we go for a game drive in the Kasenyi Kobs mating ground which is in the northern sector of this Park. We are more likely to see waterbucks, buffaloes, elephants, lions and warthogs in their nature habitat. The game drive normally takes 2-3hours. After lunch we go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, a natural channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. This is a very interesting cruise because of the big numbers of animals and birds it offers. It also takes 2hours.

Day 7Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest and Visit to the Batwa community                                

After an early breakfast, embark on a game drive to the Ishasha plains for the resident tree climbing lions plus a diversity of wildlife. The landscape in this sector is unique compared to that in other parts of Queen Elizabeth national park. It’s breathtaking seeing these lions lazily resting on tree branches targeting their prey. In the afternoon, we then transfer to Bwindi National Park with lunch en- route. We will have a visit and learn more about forest life and culture from the Batwa people who have lived here for centuries. Retire at Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8 Gorilla Tracking Experience

After an early morning breakfast, with our packed lunch, we go to the park offices for the briefing at around 8:00am and later start the trekking entering the forest, the natural habitat of the gorillas. Your gorilla trekking adventure has just begun. It may take 3-8 hours under muddy and strenuous conditions, sometimes with rain overhead. But all these conditions cease to be a challenge the moment you come face to face with the amazing mountain gorilla. The feeling is one unlike any other felt before, only you can find the fitting word, mine, awestruck. You?

Day 9Drive to Lake Mburo National Park & PCR Tests

After an early morning breakfast, we transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with lunch en-route and PCR Tests done arriving in the evening for the evening game drive in the park. This park is the only place in Uganda that supports massive herds of “impalas” …. Kampala city derives its name from here. Other antelopes easily seen are topi, bushbuck, common duiker, oribi, Defassa waterbuck and Bofor reedbuck. Buffalos, warthogs, bush-pigs and hippopotamus and many others.

Day 10Morning game Walk and Departure

fter breakfast, we will go for a morning game walk. Keep an eye out for zebra, impala and other plains game as you pass through Lake Mburo National Park. Later, we will check out and drive towards Kampala/ Entebbe. Passing through the rolling hills and terraces of Kabale and Mbarara. We have en-route lunch and later proceed to the Equator for photography and souvenirs. You will be driven to Entebbe Airport for your evening flight back home. But you’ll go home not just with the photos you’ve taken of your experiences of the most amazing places and faces, but with memories that will last you a life time.
